2017-2018 Wind Ensemble

  • Course Description: This course is open to all instrumentalists grades 9-12 by audition. (Prior participation does not guarantee a position for the coming school year.) Cp2 credit is awarded to enrolled 9th graders. This is a comprehensive course focused on jazz music for the advanced musician. Students perform a variety of music from the Big Band era to the contemporary styles. Jazz theory, history and improvisation are taught. This ensemble typically performs for three concerts within the school year and two parades. Instrumentalists are given the opportunity to participate in district and state festivals. Students are required to audition for either the All-Cape or Southeast District Music Festival to retain honors credit. Note: For the 2017-2018 school year, the Jazz Ensemble will also combine with the Wind Ensemble for performances due to instrumentation issues.
